Kenneth Pina

Mr. Piña is a founding Principal of Core Risks Ltd. (CRL).   Possessing a broad international background, his practice focuses upon:

  • The development and maintenance of effective compliance and ethics programming and training;
  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Assessments and programs;
  • Strategic Corporate Crisis Management & Communication planning and training, as well as Crisis support;
  • Complex corporate litigation support, such as neutral fact finding capabilities for sensitive internal investigations involving compliance-related claims and allegations of misconduct.

Prior to joining CRL, Mr. Piña was the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for Henkel Corporation, a consumer product and specialty chemical company.  Before joining Henkel, Mr. Piña served as the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Pharmaceuticals Inc., directing legal matters for the Company within North, Central and South America, as well as the Pacific Rim area.  Prior to joining Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, he was a litigator at Pepper Hamilton, a national law firm based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where his practice was focused primarily upon pharmaceutical products liability defense.

Mr. Piña has significant experience in the development and maintenance of effective compliance programming within complex multinational organizations.  He also has extensive experience in the development of pragmatic, functional corporate crisis management programs and has played a key role in the management of malicious product tampering events and global recalls.  Experienced in complex FDA regulatory issues, as well as high stakes mass tort claims, such as the hemophilia/AIDS litigation, Mr. Piña also assists clients with the  development and execution of strategies to resolve complicated insurance claims arising from such litigations. 

Mr. Piña received his Juris Doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law, Pennsylvania State University, where he was named a Food and Drug Law Institute Scholar and was a member of the Woolsack Honor Society.  He also received the American Jurisprudence Award in Food and Drug Law.  A graduate of the Rutgers University College of Pharmacy, Mr. Piña has served as an Adjunct Professor of Food and Drug Law at Temple University and is the co-editor of the popular industry text, An Introduction to Food and Drug Law and Regulation (FDLI), now in its third edition.  Past President of the Delaware Valley Corporate Counsel Association, Mr. Piña is active in several professional and non-profit organizations.  He presently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross and as Chair of its Services Delivery Committee.  He is a frequent speaker on legal and risk management issues.
